Frequently Asked Questions
What happens if I run out of LPG?
In most cases, this can be avoided by fitting large enough LPG tanks to the vehicle. However, should you run out of gas, the vehicle automatically reverts to 100% diesel ^Back to top What happens if there is a fault with the system?
No system is completely infallible but we recognise the importance of keeping trucks up and running. This is why the system has been designed to return the truck to 100% diesel should there be a fault. ^Back to top Will I suffer a loss in performance?
No. Although the addition of gas on its own creates extra power and torque, we offset this by reducing the amount of diesel that the engine uses (by up to 50%). The truck performs the same but some of the diesel has now been replaced by gas. ^Back to top Will the government increase the duty on LPG?
Until recently, duty levels for the cleaner fuels were anounced every four years. This meant that business would be brisk for the first couple of years but as the next budget approached everything would slow down due to uncertainty. In April 2004, the Government showed its support for LPG by keeping the duty level at around 5p per litre (a fraction of the petrol and diesel levels) but also by setting a rolling three-year window. So, for example the duty level as far as 2009 will be set in April 2006, 2010 will be set in April 2007 and so on. This eliminates the period of uncertainty and is welcomed by all in the industry. ^Back to top Do I need big tanks on my vehicle?
This depends on how much diesel your trucks use and how often they return to base. The more bunkered gas you can use, the more you will save but we have clients that are on the road all week and have to fill some of the time away from base. Sometimes it can be tricky to find space and we sometimes need to think creatively, but we have yet to be beaten. ^Back to top What about my warranty?
Due to block-exemption legislation your existing warranty continues to cover your vehicle. In addition, we supply an additional warranty and insurance policy to cover any potential gas-related problems. Every 12 months, your vehicle will require a compulsory service and health-check, at which point the warranty/insurance will be renewed. ^Back to top How long will the conversions take?
Typically 2-3 days per truck but this would be extended if extra work were needed to find space for tanks ^Back to top Where can I fill up a truck with LPG?
When you can.t fill up at your base, you will need to find somewhere else and whilst there are now well over 1000 public LPG stations, only some of them can cater for large articulated lorries. We have a comprehensive list of these stations (including canopy heights and phone numbers) that we are happy to distribute. ^Back to top Will my insurance be affected?
No. You may want to check with your insurance company first but we are yet to have a problem
^Back to top How Do I pay?
We take payment on 30-day invoices but can also arrange finance packages over 2 or 3-year periods
