Grants

The Energy Saving Trust 'Powershift' fund used to provide funding for the conversion of vehicles to run on LPG. However, now that the industry is well-established, the funding has been withdrawn. In any case, our advice has always been to consider conversion only on its own financial merits and to treat the grant as a bonus if you could get it - in our experience, the grant hardly ever made the difference between converting and not converting.

Where the "Powershift Register" used to list all of the vehicles eligible for grants, it now lists all the vehicles eligible for discounts or exemption from the London congestion charge (soon to be extended to other areas). This can save you up to £1600 per year and is certainly a major reason to consider converting if you live in the London area. For a pdf downloadable list of these vehicles click here.
